These are part of a series of drawings with no definite start point and no definite end. It originated from using a sheet of A3 paper, on one side of which I'd made a quick drawing, to do a couple of other studies. Eventually I saw it a single piece made up of varied and unrelated figurative content. I then repeated the process on the same scale and with the same media (black ballpoint pen on paper) until it became a series.

What interests me about this way of drawing is the space between different planes and scales of magnification. Lines continuing across the paper can be adopted into a completely different context. There is a mixture of objects drawn directly from life, from printed images (where the paper itself can become a three dimensional object) and from images on screen.

I try to choose the content without thinking about it, which is interesting because I've noticed that the human face/eye and lettering are recurring themes (the subconscious significance of which I'm yet to decipher). These pieces represent a kind of figurative automatic drawing...
